Learning Outcomes
Identify the blindness in the UAE for SEN in
education.

Definition
Loss of useful sight,can be temporary or permanent.
Damage to any portion of the eye, the optic nerve, or
the area of the brain responsible for vision can lead to
blindness.

When a person cant see anything at all, he/she can


use their other senses to feel, imagine and understand.

someone who is totally blind, lackthe abilitytosee. It


can be called as total blindness or total visual
impairment.

Terminology
Visually impaired:
Visual problems having very low eyesight
Blindness: Lack ability to see.

Characteristics outline
Physical Signs: Crossed eyes, eyes that turn out, or
eyes that do not seem to focus
Clumsiness: running into things or falling down
Behavior: might blink frequently or squint whenever
they read or watch television.
Blank facial expression
Lack of visual communication skills
