FF FL number vs. Other

Measurement.

TR-34 FREE MOVEMENT

(RANDOM TRAFFIC) FLOOR
Same data is collected as for FF & FL
(slope change, difference in elevation)
Slope Change data is collected in straight lines just like for FF
Elevation differences are collected in a grid, not lines (far less Levelness data is
evaluated)
Data is processed differently
95% and 100% of data must pass thresholds

Only 4 Spec choices are available

(FM1, FM2, FM2 Special, FM3)
(F-Numbers allow infinite choices)
FF 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30, 31, 37.2, 100, etc.

TR-34 DOES NOT DISCRIMINATE WELL BETWEEN GOOD FLOORS AND BAD
FLOORS

Almost everyone who has used both TR-34 &

F-Numbers prefers F-Numbers
3

TR-34 OVEREMPHASIZES LEVELNESS

Almost everyone who has used both TR-34 &

F-Numbers prefers F-Numbers

TR-34 FREE MOVEMENT LIMITATIONS

Only 4 Spec choices are available
All 4 Spec choices are relatively low
(No High Tolerance Available)

Far too much emphasis on Levelness not enough on Flatness

Not enough statistical data collected for Levelness
In the past, collecting Levelness data required a 2nd (different) instrument and two people

Can now collect data for TR-34 with Dipstick

Still takes longer than F-Numbers to collect data
Almost everyone who has used both TR-34 &
F-Numbers prefers F-Numbers
