women.However,aconstitutionalamendmentrequiresbothCongress'andthestates'approval,andthemeasurelaterfailedwhentoofew

AfederallawknownasTitleIXensuresequalfundingforbothmaleandfemalesportsinschools.Asaresult,womenandgirlshavemore
opportunitiestoparticipateinsports.Infact,manyfemaleOlympicathletessayTitleIXgavethemtheopportunitytoattendcollege,
participateinsports,andreceiveathleticscholarships.
