Objectives and (standards):
SWBAT: Students will be able to reflect on their own research project relating to the time
commitment it will take in order for them to be successful at completing the project. In addition,
students will create an accountability plan for their project.

Purpose:
The purpose of todays lesson is to allow students to develop an accountability plan that will be
essential for them to complete their short-term goal. Students will reflect on the time
commitment that is required in completing a goal as well as reflect on any bias that may exist
that would prohibit them from reaching their goal. Students will have set up personal blogs by
this point, and after this lesson, students will have a platform and a timeline that can be used to
keep them accountable of their own progress.
Procedures:
Introduction:
1. (2:10-2:20) Bell Work PromptWhat makes you different or standout compared to
everyone around you? Do you think people see this difference as a good thing or a bad
thing? Why?
Development:
1. (2:20-2:30) Video on Overcoming AdversitySee attached handout for ACT Prep of the week.
2. (2:40-3:00) Blog Update/JournalStudents will use this time to complete their initial
blog post, and/or start their second blog post. This post is expected to be a minimum of
half a page to one page in length.
3. (3:00-3:35) Personal Accountability PlanStudents will be given a template that they
will work on completing. This template serves as their accountability plan for their goals
project. In addition to finishing the accountability plan, students are expected to complete
their mid project reflection.
