A very long time ago in the year of

1763 in a land faraway lived the
colonist. The colonist were people
from a place call Great Britain, they
moved to this land faraway the 13
colonies to start a new life away from
Great Britain. But then there was a
fight between Great Britain and a
place call France. That fight cause a
lot of trouble for Great Britain, also
because they lost the fight they had
to pay France money which they
didnt have. To get money, King
George III the kings of Great Britain
started taxing the colonist. The
colonist got tax on things they use or
need, like paper, food, and many
other things. The colonists were not
very
happy about being tax, because

The king past some rules called

The Quartering Act and The
Townshend Act. These rules
dont let the colonists have any
privacy or freedom to do

colonist started to get really mad
at the king, so they start
rebelling against him. They stop
buying things that came from
Great Britain; the colonists said
the king was taking away their
rights and liberty.

Because the colonists were unrest

the king send in British soldiers to
keep them in control. But that did not
stop the colonists from yelling,
screaming and behaving badly at the
king or his soldiers. One night, some
of the colonists got in trouble with the
soldiers and some of those colonists
got hurt really bad. The captain of the
soldiers Captain Preston didnt want
people to get hurt, but no matter how
much he tried people got hurt anyway.
The colonists got hurt because they
instigated the soldiers. The colonists
yelled things at them and even hit one
of the soldiers, which made the
soldiers shoot at the colonists

In 1773 King George III

passed the Tea Act which
made the colonists pay more
money when buying British
Tea. The colonists didnt like
paying extra money for tea,
so they held the Boston tea
party. The Boston tea party
was in December 13, 1773,
where the colonists boycott
the Tea Act by throwing
British tea in the sea. The
colonists wanted the king to
abolish the Tea Act, so in
1774 they wrote petitions
to the king. A colonist who
knew the king very well also
wrote the king, his name was
Ben Franklin. In the letter
Ben Franklin warned the king
of the danger that the rules

In 1775, the colonists formed a

militia and waited in Lexington,
MA because they heard that the
British soldiers were coming. The
British soldiers were shocked to
see the colonists there waiting,
and with weapons in their hands.
There on an open field in
Lexington, MA a fight started,
between the colonist and the
British for the colonist
independence. Some British said
that the rebels shot at them first,
and colonist said that the British
shot at them first. But even today
the mystery of who shot first is
still under investigation.

In 1776 during the

revolutionary war, an
English man named
Thomas Paine wrote a little
book named Common
Sense, Which means what
everybody should know
and think. The book was
about Great Britain, how it
unfair to the colonists and
that the colonists should
not stay connected with
Great Britain. The book
talk about what most
colonists wanted which
was independence from
Great Britain. But not all
colonists agreed with what
Thomas Paine said in his
book. Some colonists
feared that independence
could bring them more
trouble with Great Britain.

After Common Sense was published, it

got a lot of colonists thinking about
their independence and if they really
wanted independence. Well, most of
the colonists wanted their
independence, so in 1776 a
document was written; it was call the
Declaration of Independence. It was
written by Thomas Jefferson, but a lot
of the ideas came from Thomas Paine
and John Locke. Many wealthy men
from different part of the 13 colonies
came to Philadelphia, the capital city
of the 13 colonies at that time. They
came to hear and vote on the
Declaration of Independence. The
document said why the colonist
wanted independence from the
British. After the colonists declare
their independence, they change the
name 13 colonies to the United States

The colonists had to fight the British

for their independence which started
the Revolutionary war. America and
France agreed an alliance with the
continental army to fight against
Britain in the war. George
Washington was the leader of the
colonial armies during the
revolutionary war. The last battle of
the war was in Yorktown Virginia,
where George Washington led the
colonial armies to victory. The Red
coats surrender to the Americans,
they won the revolutionary war. After
the war ended in 1783, American
and British representative signed a
treaty. It was name Treaty of Paris,
this treaty gave the Americans their
independence and more lands to live
in. it was happily ever after, but only
for the rich white Americans. The
slaves, women, and poor men were
not very happy after America got
their independence from Britain. For
then life was still unfair, but later
there will be hope and happiness for
