Materials List: Book ____, White Board, Paper, Pencils, Crayons,

Disney Movie Hercules
Type of Lesson: Whole group and individual based learning

Connection to Standards:
Instructional Objective: By the end of this lesson I want
students to have a basic understand of whom the Greek gods were and
what each one of them represented. Students should also be able to
write their own mythological story.
Language Objective: Students will practice creative writing and
story telling.
Active Instructional Plan: I will teach my lesson starting in a
whole group setting. Students will be sitting on the floor watching a
movie to get them engaged. As the students answer questions, listen
to the story, and make a chart together they will be working as a whole
group.

Assessment/Evaluation: Evaluation will come in the form of the

students comic strips. I will be able to assess the students on how
well they listened within the lesson, while the students practice their
creative writing skills.
Modifications/Differentiation: The comic strip in itself is
supposed to be seen as a modification for all students instead of just
writing a story. For students who may be ELL, they can draw more
pictures as opposed to including a lot of dialogue. This could also be
useful for students who have IEPs that include modifications for
writing. Students who may need differentiation within the lesson could
also be allowed to copy one of the stories I read to the class (instead of

having to come up with their own) and representing it in their own way.
For students who usually need extensions or more time I will allow
them to make a shortened comic strip of 3 or 4 panels based on their
goals.
