WELCOME & ORIENTATION SPEECH

The department would like to welcome all our students in the Industrial and Operations
program both new and old to the second semester 2013. Thank you for joining us for this
short gathering. I would like to acknowledge and thank the staff and faculty.
I would like to open with a few topics for us to consider during the course of this
semester:
1.
2.
3.

Purpose: What is my purpose or goal as a student, and as such...

Value: What is the value I bring to me and those around me, and as such...
Core Business: What is my core business as a student.

The answers to these questions can only be answered by the one asking them (YOU).
As a lecturer, I believe that my core purpose is to mould students into value adding
assets of society that add to the wealth of a nation. Knowledge is what we input and it is
only of value if this knowledge is deemed worthwhile. Worth is the value designed into
an entity.
The goal of your core purpose should be such that you are worthy of the title given to
you once you graduate, your being should be so enhanced that your strengths will
develop wealth and your weaknesses diminished. When you graduate into a valuable
working citizen your character must be one of admiration and strength.
The journey must begin by first fully understanding ones positives and negatives, and
one way is to take a personality test (MBTI test).
Free will has given us the choice to make the decisions on how our future shall look like.

Lets demonstrate life graphically and the choices at our disposal.
