McRel Evaluation
System

Our School District uses the McRel Teacher Evaluation


System to collect data on the following standards:

Standard I: Teachers Demonstrate Leadership


Standard II: Teachers Establish a Respectful

Environment for a Diverse Population of Students


Standard III: Teachers Know the Content They Teach
Standard IV: Teachers Facilitate Learning for Their

Students
Standard V: Teachers Reflect on Their Practice

What Does an
Observation Consist
of?

Pre-Observation Conference: Opportunity for the


teacher and the observer to discuss the lesson and
for the teacher to request the observer to pay close
attention to any particular area of the lesson.
Observation: During the observation the observer
gathered evidence to provide a rating for the teacher
on pre identified areas.
Post-Observation Conference: The observer
provides teacher with feedback. The observer might
provide additional resources to support the teacher in
the improvement of instructional practices.

Year 1: Mentorship, summative does NOT

count toward tenure


Mentors observe the novice teacher, share feedback,

model efective teaching practices, and provide


confidential support

Years 2, 3, 4: Receive efective or

highly efective rating at least two of


these three years
On the first day of your 5th year, you will be
granted tenure
