Describe the students learning differences in the area of disability: (How does this
student differ from typical classmates?) You may specify the category of disability,
but do not need to. Discuss the specific difficulties experienced by the student in
academic, social and behavioral areas, if applicable.
Jessica has very hard social and behavioral issues in the classroom. She does not
vocalize when she needs something but will throw herself on the ground and start crying,
which is very unsafe. She receives OT, PT, and Speech services. She usually plays alone
and rarely with the other kids in the classroom. The teacher in the classroom has
informed me she believes the little girl is somewhere on the autism spectrum. She is
extremely smart academically. When doing her progress note with her, Jessica knows all
her letters, colors, and can count up to 11.
Based on observations and inventories, what are the students learning styles in the
areas of Multiple Intelligences, learning styles, preference for group or individual
work, etc? You must attach a learning styles or MI inventory to your final
submission.
Jessica likes hands-on activities as well as musical interest. Based on
observations, Jessica does well in a large group if music is being played to help with
learning as she loves to dance and sing along. She also does extremely well when doing
art projects to enhance learning and usually does this in a small group of three other
children. Jessica also
What are this students interests?
This student has many different interests. She enjoys iPad games, music, looking
at books, playing with animals, and art projects.
Please describe how you came to these conclusions about student interests. You must
either complete and attach and interest inventory or include a transcript of a
conversation you had with the student (your questions and the students answers)
I came to these conclusions about Jessicas interest by conducting an interest
inventory with her as well as asking her questions throughout the day. These are provided
at the end of this document.
Based on your preassessment, please describe this students strengths and
weaknesses regarding the content of your unit. Attach preassessment with

On the preassessment, I used the progress note which we do many times
throughout the year. I used this as the preassessment in order to see where Jessica was at
in all areas of school. This preassessment looks at letters, counting, colors, and shapes, as
well as focusing on all her IEP goals. This student knew all her letters and colors which
helps with this unit because we go over the colors of fall as well as learning the letter F.
We used various shapes in this lesson to go over the shapes of leaves, pumpkins, and
apples which this student did well with as this student knows various shapes. This
students weaknesses throughout this lesson may be working in the groups trying to learn
the letters and go over the shapes of the various fall things because no songs are involved
or art at the moment they are introduced.
What IEP goals would be appropriate to address during your unit?
The goals addressed during this unit will be :Jessica will correctly use basic
verbal language to communicate her needs; Jessica will use toys in a purposeful,
appropriate manner; and Jessica will correctly produce /p/, /b/, /t/, /d/, /k/, /g/ (stop
sounds) in conversational speech
