Science Careers

Introduction
The purpose of my paper is to discuss the current top ten computer science
careers. The goal of my paper is to inform you about what are the most desired
computer science jobs to date.
I will be discussing Software Developers, Database Administrators, Computer
Hardware Engineers, Computer System Analysts, Computer Network Architects, Web
Developers, Information System Analysts, Computer Programmers, Computer and
Information System Managers and Project Managers.

Software Developer $90k avg. per year


This is a very broad job title as it covers so many different areas in the
development of software. There are many people that contribute to the development of
software either in the initial creation of a program from scratch, or the basic architecture
of the system and even the coding of the software. Software Development is not only
limited to personal computers, but also you could work on server software or even apps

Database Administrator $82k avg. per year


Database Administrators or (DBAs) utilize software to help them store and
organize various data such as financial information, medical records, student records,
customer and employee records etc. DBAs are in high demand especially with how
everything is done on computers these days and almost every company can benefit
having a DBA to keep track of all their records. (U. D. Labor, Database Administrators)

Computer Hardware Engineer $100k avg. per year


Computer Hardware Engineers have a broad range of things they can work on
and are not limited to just developing hardware for personal computers. You can be part
of the development of many hardware items such as printers, graphics cards, cpus,
motherboards and sound cards. They are always coming up with new technology and
finding new ways to make things faster and work better than previously before.

Computer Systems Analyst $85k avg. per year


A Computer Systems Analyst will study computer systems and procedures to help
develop better ways to make the software run more efficient and effectively. Typically they work
closely with the customer and make sure they are changing things to better meet their needs.
You also help train the systems end users and write manuals on how to operate the system. (U.

Computer Network Architect $100k avg. per year


Computer Network Architects primarily design Local Area Networks (LANs), Wide

Area Networks (WANs) and intranets. The typical duties of this position usually consist
of creating plans and layouts of a data network, upgrading hardware and software such
as network adaptors and drivers for a company or organization. You will also analyze
network traffic and predict future network needs and determine how more users will

Web Developer $63k avg. per year


The basic job description of a Web Developer is programming specific code that
will tell a website how to function and display things to the viewers. There are so many
different types of coding that you can use to create a website being JavaScript, HTML,
and CSS. This is a very sought after profession by businesses because most small
businesses and large corporations utilize web sites for their customers to go to.

Information Security Analysts $90k avg. per year


Information Security Analysts are very important to any business, large
corporation and even the US Government. With cyberattacks increasing more and more
the demand for people in this field is very large. You typically find these analysts always
improving security procedures, run tests to check how strong a systems security

Computer Programmer $72k avg. per year


The basic job description of a Computer Programmer is to design software
programs. Typically they start out with creating a program, then doing various stages of
testing to ensure that the program functions correctly and does not conflict with the
computer, then it is released out to the public or to the company it was created for. This
field is always in demand but you sometimes face companies outsourcing to other
countries due to cheaper labor. (Kayne)

Computer and Information Systems Managers $131k avg. per year


Computer and Information Systems Managers oversee, coordinate and plan computer
related activities in an organization. They control funding, and justify the need to top executives.
They determine short and long term needs for the IT department and ensure the security of their

IT Project Manager $95k avg. per year


IT Project Managers are team leaders for IT related projects. They manage timelines,
track objectives and ensure the product is delivered on-time and within budget. Not only do they
need to have extensive knowledge on the technology they are working with, they also need to
keep the team in check and make sure everyone is doing what they should be. (Esme)

Conclusion
In conclusion, there are many careers available in the computer science field and they
all contribute to the technology and programs that we have today. The ranges of salary per year
are anywhere from $60,000 up to $131,000. With how the world is becoming so digitalized and
dependent on computers, the demand for these jobs will continue to rise at an extremely high
rate.
