Warm Up: NONE NEEDED
Transition:
- Students sitting at their seats to begin.
Set Induction:
- How many of you like to play cards? How many
of you have ever played UNO before?
Learnable Piece:
- Today you are going to be practicing your
multiplication facts by using the cards from a
game of UNO.
- Lets review what exactly multiplication is:
o Multiplication: Multiplication is a repeated
form of addition. For example:
4 X 4= 4 + 4 + 4 + 4= 16
Transition:
- When I say go, please WALK to the front of the
room and grab two of the UNO cards on the table,
and stand behind your desk. Give me a thumbs
up that youre ready.
Presentation of New Material/Directions:
- When everyone is ready, you will go to different
people in the room and say what the answer is to
the multiplication fact of your two cards
- When you both state your answer, switch one
card with that person and continue on to another
person.
- If you get a problem wrong youll do 5 jumping
jacks. You will still switch cards with your partner
even if you get the problem wrong.

SAFETY:
- Watch out for others and the desks.
- If you do jumping jacks for getting a problem
wrong, please move to an open area and watch
out for your classmates; check your
surroundings.
CHECKING FOR UNDERSTANDING:
How many cards should you have at all

both finish answering your multiplication
fact? - Switch one card with partner

- Have three people be in a group if people seem to
be left out
- Give only 5 seconds per response if students
seem to be getting bored
