Presenters Notes on Study Tools in the Middle School Classroom

Introduction to the course and what the participants will be
discussing today
State my name and credentials
Thank the school for allowing me to present to their teachers/
staf

The presenter will give participants a chance to say hello to each
other
Evoke a discussion on what they hope to learn from this
professional development
o This may give the presenter an idea on what to spend
more time on and the need of the participants
Allow 5 minutes for people to share out on what they hope to
gain from this PD

The presenter will state the objectives

After stating the objectives the presenter will ask the participants
to rate them selfs according to Marzonos self-assessment scale.
This will be a form of assessment for the presenter. Participants
will revisit the objectives at the end of the session. The hope is
that participants will move from originally scoring themselves as
a 1 or 2 and move to a 3 or 4 by the end of the session.

The presenter will state the staggering statistics of the amount of
learning disabled students within classrooms today

The presenter will present the participants with the reasons why
our learning disabled students struggle with study techniques in
classrooms
Slide 9 The presenter will allow participants to read the definition of
executive functioning skills.
The article linked in the slide will be presented to participants.
They will be given time to review the article.

The presenter will ask participants to read and discuss the
questions on the slide. After giving the participants 5 to 10
minutes to discuss these questions the presenter will facilitate a
whole group share out.
