The Malolos Public Market caters not only to the residents of Malolos, but to

many people of Paombong, Hagonoy, and other neighboring municipalities of

Bulacan as well. Due to this we can expect huge crowd traffic every day especially
during weekends and even more during Holidays (e.g. Christmas, New Year, All
Saints Day, Back to School rush.) Having huge crowd swarming around a market is
generally not a bad thing because it guarantees huge profit; but this can become a
problem when it already causes inconvenience and damage to properties.
As an opinion, the market cannot keep up with the number of people it is
currently catering to, which is rapidly becoming a problem. Imagine a hot day under
the sun with many people around. It may become a venue for crimes like theft,
swindling, etc. other people also complain of feeling illdizziness, dehydration,
chest pains, headachesdue to the heat and number of people.
According to our observations, there is not really an established system as to
how consumers can/ should circulate along the roads. There is no designated lane
goin in and going out. This problem was emphasized by the huge number of people
during Christmas season. Going across from one side of the road to the other is a
rigorousimpossible task even. The presence of street vendors and trolley rollers
makes for an even harder task of circulation.
Poor circulation is also seen by vendors as a problem. As they say: it causes
great deal of inconvenience to their customers. They claim that people find it
annoying to be bumped against by passersby. There are also cases when people
bump against vendors items, sometimes damaging their goods. It is also sometimes
hard to keep up with a large number of people buying/swarming in their stalls. It
may create a venue for shoplifters. The problem in circulation can also throw
consumers off, resulting in lower profit for vendors.
At some areas people and vehicles share the same road. This can be a threat
to the consumers safety. The established route for tricycles is also displaced during
some days due to large mass of people and vendors crowding their way. The road
system is also inconvenient for delivery trucks as they share same schedule with
the multitude of vendors and customers racing against daylight. There are also
large trolleys which cause a great deal of inconvenience to consumerssome
experienced being hit by it. It also demands a large space to navigate, displacing
pedestrians on its way.
The occasional floods are not only a source of inconvenience to people but a
health hazard as well.
The foul smell which we can trace back to poor drainage system and
sanitation is also a problem for pedestrians. It may result to health problems. The
foul smell can also imply presence of bacteria and viruses than can be a threat not
only to people but to products and goods as well. The poor sanitation also creates a
notion to people that it is just okay to throw trash or spit wherever they like.

In some areas, there are points of concern when it comes to illumination. In

some areas navigating is close to impossibility. The absence of good lighting can
cause accidents, miscommunication, and crimes.
Ventilation is also a problem for the inner areas of the market. It causes an
oven like atmosphere, making people uncomfortable. The hot temperature can also
serve as a perfect breeding ground for bacteria.
There are some recommendations from pedestrians to segregate the stalls
according to their products. As of the moment there is no clear designation in the
arrangement of stalls. People would have to go around looking for what they need.
The stall owners from the farther sides of the market are mostly affected because
people seldom reach their area except for their patrons.
