Spanish background in class 3W

We are based in the class of 3W at Hampton Junior School.

The students of year 3 at Hampton Junior School have never had any
Spanish lessons before and only some of them know basic vocabulary in
Spanish because they did this language in an after school club. The second
language taught at school is French.
The tutor of our class, who is also the coordinator of Key Stage 2,
recommended us to try to explain the activities is Spanish but including some
translations or explanations in English when necessary to ensure the students
understand everything.
Pupils now understand some basic vocabulary like the colours and the
numbers as well as some welcoming expressions and how to ask some
questions about oneself. They have also been taught vocabulary regarding
how to describe a person.
In the past lessons, they have created an amigo/amiga who works as an
avatar to whom they can talk to and explain things in Spanish. It has also
been used to learn how to describe the physical features of a person and will
be used in this lesson to learn some vocabulary about seasons, months and
birthdays.
