1. Dehumanization is the process by which the Nazis gradually reduced


the Jews to little more than "things" which were a nuisance to them.
Discuss at least three specific examples of events that occurred
which dehumanized Eliezer and two other characters from the
novel.
2. Write an essay reacting to the following quote persuading others to
agree with Elie Wiesel's judgment. Cite reasons how this could have
helped Elie in the novel and exactly how people could aid society if
they believed in helping others. Cite possible hazards and/or hurdles
to jump to overcome human fears in this issue.
Anyone who witnesses an atrocity or an act of inhumanity and
does nothing to stop it is just as guilty as the person committing
the act. Those who know and remain silent are guilty of the
same offense. To stand by silently is to participate in the crime.

3. At the beginning of Night, the reader learns that Elie Wiesel was
hungry for knowledge especially religious knowledge. He pursued
Moishe the Beadle, hounding him with questions and asking him to
teach the the secrets of Jewish mysticism. However, throughout the
narrative, Wiesels religious zeal changes. Explain how Wiesels
character changes throughout the novel, especially in regard to the
Jewish religion and toward God. Use specific examples from the
narrative to support what you say.
