Writing Weekly Lesson Plans

Name ________Mary Hull___________________________

Student Grade Level _____Second Grade ___________

Majority of the students in this class are in the within word pattern stage of development. They have become familiar
with automatically spelling many words. They are transitioning towards writing with greater speed and less conscious
attention, allowing them to concentrate on ideas a little more. They are able to compose with a better sense of the
readers knowledge and with more complexity in the storyline. They are familiar with basic writing terms like
paragraph, and have a notion of when to use punctuation. This lesson plan will focus on strengthening coherent and
comprehensive writing about an original idea. It will also give the students an opportunity to learn the function of and use
adjectives in their writing. The teacher will follow a Writers Workshop pattern for the writing lesson this week.
Objectives for week The students will strengthen their writing skills by creating, writing, and sharing an original narrative piece.
The students will focus on the use of adjectives.
