Behavior Contingency Plan


Catchy, positive title: Zumba Time
Undesirable Behavior Targeted: Lack of participation: This interferes with
the learning by not coming to class on time, not wearing correct shoes, not
wearing correct clothes (gym clothes). The class will learn the correct way to
do activities by actively involving themselves into the activities.
Desirable (expected) Behavior: Actively Participate: wearing correct
tennis shoes, wearing correct attire (gym clothes), being on time to class,
and coming to class with a positive attitude
Types of positive reinforcements: everyone in on-time with correct attire
(gym clothes, correct shoes) 5 minutes after the tardy bell rings
1. Immediate R+: A dancing emoji
2. On-going R+: Running around a 200-meter track
3. Novel Interactive Learning Activity: Zumba Time, learning to exercise
and check heart rate while dancing and having fun.
4. Praise the class before the activity starts and let they know at the end
of class we will move the dancing emoji 10 meters on the track.
How you will teach the Desired Behaviors: When students constantly
show up late to class and it becomes a habit during a six weeks, I will
incorporate this into my lesson plan. Remind them to be on time, have a
shoe rack in the gym that they can use if they do not have correct shoes on,
and give them options to dress out or wear their clothes as long as they are
gym clothes (loose shorts/shirts).
How to Teach the Plan: After the dancing emoji makes it around the 200
meter track, the class will be able to have a Zumba lesson during the class.
Before the lesson begins the students will check their resting heart rate.
During the lesson the children will be able to exercise using their motor skills
and be able to check their heart rate at the end of the lesson. To check their
heart rate, the class will stop doing what they are doing and put 2 fingers to
their risk or neck. This is where their pulse will be. They will sit and count to
15 secs then multiply by 4 to check their heart rate. I will strive for them to
be in the 180 beats per min zone.
Provide Options: Each class period will have to reach their goal separately
to have the Zumba day. We will have poster boards on the wall so all the
classes can see the other class periods and be motivated by their
progression. Once one class reaches the goal, the other classes will still be
able to reach the same goals and have Zumba day.
Necessary Items: Music for Zumba, Time watch to make sure everyone is
on time
