Under OSHA's latest reporting requirements, employers must now report all
work-related in-patient hospitalizations, amputations, or losses of an eye within
24 hours of the event. The broad definitions for inpatient hospitalization and amputation, which now includes fingertip amputations with or without bone loss, have likely contributed to an increase in workplace incidents reports. According to OSHA, the Agency is averaging about 250 new reports each weektaking up a great deal of resources.
