Business Context
GHD provides engineering, architecture, environmental and construction
services to private and public sector clients across five continents.
GHD FIRST refers to the Fast Incident Response Services Team, which
operates under the umbrella of Emergency Management Services,
including Emergency Response and Health and Safety Oversight of
Emergency Events

GHD FIRST services are similar to typical services offerings, plus they are
provided in a compressed time frame.

Project Overview
Investigate previous emergency events to support existing gaps on
emergency preparedness and response throughout the Province of BC.
Research international legislation related to ERAP in Port Terminals.
Complete development for designated sections of 3 different E2 plans.
Research USA legislation related to emergency preparedness & response
Training Development - Assist with slide deck development for a given
training program.

Ensure optimal Response Planning and Readiness Assessments.

Enhance the development of various emergency plans based on experience


in the industry.
Support existing training programs and enhance them based on experience
in technical reporting and presentation.

Conclusion
This internship allowed GHD to build up an interdisciplinary team among
science and engineering approach based on the background of each part.
GHD FIRST shared responsibilities among environmental scientists and the
postgraduate intern with an engineering background, resulting in a team
effort for the generation of new ideas to complete all the project deliverables.

Recommendations
To strength the involvement among Niagara College, the Community and GHD
through future internships that can bring more conclusive researches related
to the emergency response initiatives in Canada.
To develop new projects that may evaluate the emergency preparedness in
Niagara College under the technical support of GHD leadering the internship
deliverables.

To use this project as a guideline to go deeper under the research involved on


this project to get more conclusive information related to the gap analysis.
