Chapter 10 Assignment
them with a smile. I would also explain and practice class routines and I would also discuss
class or individual goals and expectations and also review, explain, and discuss school rules and
procedures. I would also help students introduce themselves and prepare nametags to help
everyone feel more comfortable. I would also explain my procedures for the classroom as for
entering and leaving the classroom, handing in and returning papers. I would make sure they
understood how to access materials such as scissors, paper, pencils, making trips to the bathroom
and making up work after an absence.
The next things I feel is extremely important are communicating with the students and try
to find ways by involving parents. I would include things like maintaining communication by
frequently sending home packets of student work, descriptions of new units and other
information about academic work. I would also let parents know when their child did a really
good job on an assignment and that they made a big accomplishment by either e-mailing them or
send home a newsletter with the student so that they can show what they accomplished in the
classroom. I would also make sure the parents understand that I was available to them to address
any questions either through meetings, email or phone. I feel that if I communicate well with the
parents the better relationships I will have with the students.
Now I will explain my classroom rules and consequences that I will have in my
classroom. Show respect to myself, others, and the classroom. Be prepared and give your best
effort. Try not to do anything to keep the teacher from teaching anyone, myself included from
learning. The consequences that I would have in my classroom are change seats, student/teacher
conference, office referral, and other appropriate action. At the start of the school year I would
let the students know of these so that they know what to expect from me with my classroom rules
and consequences.
