United Kingdom
United Kingdom is a sovereign nation in Europe consisted of England, Scotland, Welsh,
and Northern Ireland. Even more, this country uses a unitary parliament constitutional monarchy;
Queen Elizabeth II as a monarch, and David Cameron takes a position as the prime minister of
United Kingdom. However, in this country, it has both socialism and capitalism, which consists of
three characters: competition, wide variety of products, and utilities from the government. The
following examples will support my statement.
Initially, in everywhere around the world, there are competitions occurring constantly in any
location at any time. Speaking of United Kingdom, British people and immigrants are constantly
have a competition among each other with many reasons due to the capitalism society that
encourages individuals fight for survival. For instance, in London, there is a Chinatown located in
City of Westminster consisted of Chinese people from the Mainland, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. Each
one of them completes in businesses like restaurants and retail stores. Additionally, British
individual are feared of Chinese immigrants domination in capitalism. Therefore, they have altered
its strategies for beating the Chinese businesses out of United Kingdom, but the Chinese does the
same thing as the British for survival. From this case, in order to win the competition, you must
come up with new tactics in order to trip the scale such as promotion, recognition from the ministry
or the government, and advertisements. Furthermore, United Kingdom has Western foods, yet
lacks of Eastern and Asian foods that are highly demanded from the British citizens. Hence, this
request can be an advantage for the Chinese thanks to its exotic foods. Thus, competition is one of
the characteristics from capitalism that keeps happened constantly.
Second, capitalism allows industries to produce a variety of product for many selections in
choosing the most suitable one for the customers satisfaction. To emphasise, we do not prefer
picking a clich thing over and over as it will make you feel lifeless and no motivation to move on,
according to the psychologys perspective. Hence, this system makes people to be creative and
variant in making a decision. In this nation, British individuals prefer the society to be various, not
uniform because the latters view is outdated to be completed against other countries that are

driven by the former. For instance, Boots UK Limited, a pharmacy chain in United Kingdom
founded by John Boot. This shop has a variant product selection from cosmetic to food, and later
on it expands branches to Ireland, and Asia, including Thailand. As the idea of producing various
products, it receives positive feedbacks and fame, which helps customers saving time and prices
and improving lifestyle as well. Furthermore, this pharmacy chain has a well-motivated mission, To
be the first choice for pharmacy, health and beauty - caring for people, customers and communities
everywhere (Boots UK Limited, 2015). In summary, the more variety the choice it has, the more
probability of nations development and peoples condition improvement will be occurred.
Third, utilities of the government are developed from taxes that return as a better benefit for
citizens. In addition, each country requires people to pay tax, a payment for developing the
countrys utility. In this land, the British and immigrants who are recognised as a British citizen must
pay the tax as an exchange for settling in this country. As a clarification, However, this payment is
extremely vital in developing the country for citizens convenience such as roads, railways,
hospitals, and public transportations. In London, TFL (Transport For London) is a governmental
public transportation company, which owns tubes (subways), buses, cable car, TRL, and cabs. This
company is funded by tax. which helps returning in a favour for a citizen. In other words, investing
something will return as a wonderful benefit. Therefore, tax is critically crucial for growing the
country as the happiness, convenience, and satisfaction of citizens.
To sum up, United Kingdom consists both socialism and capitalism; it contains three
points: competition, wide variety of products, and utilities from the government.
