Catchy, Positive Title: Tone Wars
Undesirable Behavior Targeted: Negative, rude tone of voice and body language

Heightened Pitch
Gruff or rude tone and responses
Short, disrespectful replies to adults

Desirable Behavior Targeted:

Positive tone of voice and body language

Kind eyes
Respecting personal space
Indoor appropriate pitch
Kind and respectful tone and responses
Yes/No Maam and Sir to adults

Types of positive reinforcements Reinforced when & how:

Immediate R+ - Adult that hears/sees expected behavior will give verbal praise and appreciation
Ongoing R+ - Marble jar filled with a marble each time Mom, Dad, Rockie, or Poppy hear Miles using the desirable
behavior.
Overall R+ - Star Wars movie marathon
Interactive Learning Activity: Participating adults will verbally recognize the desired behavior when it is seen. A marble
will be placed in the jar for each witnessed behavior. Tiered marks are on the jar and when each level is reached, family
will have a game night with the How You Say It Game as the recurring game. How You Say It is played with a spinner
labeled with different types of TONE and cards that have statements or questions. This game will help reinforce the
appropriate tone expected throughout the plans timeframe. Once the marble jar is full, as a family, we will have a Star
Wars Movie Marathon. While school is in session, Miles will receive a minimum of 30 minutes to watch the Star Wars
movies with more time being devoted on the weekends until the collection of Star Wars movies is complete. This movie
time will not be deducted from his weekly electronics allowance, but will be considered bonus time.
Teaching Desired Behaviors:
Participating adults and Miles will take turns using the phrase, I didnt say you stole my red hat, in different tones. We
will act out the undesirable behaviors along with tone and the desirable behavior with expected tone.
While we are teaching the desired behaviors, two adults will be responsible for giving the Immediate and Ongoing R+ to
the teaching participants. We will explain to Miles that each time he exhibits one of the desired behaviors, and it is
observed by a participating adult, a marble will be added to the jar.
Provide Options:
Options for future use of this plan include re-introducing the plan with a new movie marathon option if the behavior
re-emerges. Additionally, this plan can be adapted to focus on other types of behaviors or social cues. For home use, you
could even use this plan for various aged children (possibly with a different Overall R+) to encourage potty training,
cleaning rooms, homework completed in a timely fashion, or chore completion.
