Dear Principal:

I am writing to you regarding the fourth grade teaching position available at your
school. After completing the online application for Duval County Public Schools, I
discovered this vacancy at your school. I will be graduating in May from Clemson
University with an undergraduate degree in Elementary Education. I will be
certified to teach grades 2-6 with an emphasis in math and science.

I am currently completing my student teaching in a 4th grade classroom at a Title 1
school in South Carolina. During this experience, I have had the opportunity to
collaborate with my cooperating teacher to develop and implement short-range and
long-range plans for English Language Arts, mathematics, and science. I have
incorporated a variety of appropriate instructional strategies that actively engage
and meet the needs of all students. I differentiate my instruction with the use of a
variety of technological resources. My goals as an educator match the mission of
Example Elementary School as I strive to promote a love of learning through
student-centered, inquiry based learning opportunities. I am incredibly passionate
about educating, motivating, and building relationships with students. I strive to
help all students discover their full potential and I believe that my skill set and
enthusiasm would allow me to flourish at Example Elementary School.

I truly believe that providing meaningful, exciting learning opportunities will foster
a love of learning in students to encourage life-long learning and discoveries. I
would love to share this belief with the students at Example Elementary. I hope to
soon discuss with you how my experience and abilities can best meet the goals of
