Dear Walt Disney Corporation, My name is Haley Thornton. I heard of the Global Mobility Project Graduate Corporate Internship through Disney internships website. After recently visiting Disney World for my first time last November, and talking to an employee there for an internship, I have become very interested in a career with the Walt Disney Company. I am currently enrolled in plenty of Business Development and planning courses at Salem State that have made me a very interested in the topic and considered a future in this administrative field. I believe this company can keep the fun going, even in the business field. I have been a waitress for 4 years at two different Texas Roadhouse restaurants, working my way through college. This became one of the best things for me because it gave me strong social skills that are needed for the business world but I also learned how to be a good employee and to enjoy the company I worked for. While studying at Salem State University I work four nights a week and continue to be a recipient of the Deans List for the past three semesters. While in high school I volunteered frequently at the school concession stand running the sales and different ordering new supplies. This gave me my first glimpse of the business world since this was before my first job at the Texas Roadhouse. When I graduated from Stoughton High School, I was granted a Stoughton Boosters Club scholarship for my active volunteer work for the club. In addition I was the recipient of a scholarship honoring a deceased classmate that I grew up with While working at a restaurant as a waitress, one of the most important things to learn is taking the lead. This past fall our restaurant in Danvers MA was very short staffed, which meant that the other employees needed to pick up the slack. Our normal three table sections became anywhere from six to eight depending on your seniority and serving ability. This became a learning opportunity for me because a job I was well used to became much harder. I worked hard in order to keep all the tables I was in charge of happy. Working in a restaurant shows you that whatever work you put into your job is basically the pay you are going to get. In short, I am a student who has a passion for a career with The Walt Disney Company. I am a hard working student at Salem State University who continues to improve each semester by gaining more
knowledge. I am also a hard working employee who can take the lead and multitask in order to get a task done in a timely manner. Sincerely, Haley Thornton
