TITLE OF THE PAPER: THE PLIGHT OF MUSLIMS IN JHARKAHND
This is a descriptive study on the plight of Muslims in the state of Jharkhand. Muslims from the largest minority group in Jharkhand with the community spreading over to around 24 districts in the state. Despite of this, this religious has hardly bagged any representation in electoral politics or, the socio-economic strata in the state of Jharkhand. The main reason behind this is the lack of leadership and awareness among the people of this community. The community though shows fair signs in the field of education but has constantly been disappointed in social and economic fields. The laden reasons are the failure of the government to frame policies for the upliftment of Muslims. The paper talks about the various programmes by the State government for the welfare of this community, the related statistics and the comparative analysis of the plight of the Muslims in the initial years (when the state was formed) till date. The paper further makes suggestions how the status of Muslims can be improved in the state which will further help them grow socially, economically and politically.
