Alexander

The Great

Rise To the Throne

Alexander The Great was born to a royal family. His Father Philip
II was King of Macedonia. After his Father was assassinated in
336 BC Alexander inherited the throne at the age of 20. He now
had a strong kingdom and experienced army by his side.

Goals
After gaining control of the Generalship of Greece Alexander
used his authority to lead the Greeks in the conquest of Persia.
He began a series of campaigns that lasted ten years. His goal
was to expand his empire to the ends of the world and the
Great Outer Sea.

His Empire
He spent most of his years on an unprecedented
military campaign through Asia and Northeast
Africa. By the age of thirty he had created one of
the largest empires in the ancient world
stretching from Greece to Egypt into India and
modern day Pakistan.

His Positions
Alexander became
leader of many
different empires
through invasion.

Death
Alexander never got to complete his goal of expanding his empire to
the edge of the world. In 326 after his invasion of India he lost the
support of his men and was forced to turn back. He reached Babylon
the city he intended to make his capital where he died. He had planned
to invade Arabia next.

Aftermath
After his death a series of civil wars tore his empire apart. He is viewed
as one of the most influential people in human history. He was
undefeated in battle during his life and because of that he has become
the measure in which military leaders compare themselves today.
Military academies still teach his tactics to their soldiers today.

Human Rights
Alexander The Great violated
many human rights over his
lifetime. He had many of his own
people executed for misbehaving
without any sort of trial which
violates the right to life, liberty
and security of the person. He
believed that the only way to
solve problems was by killing
anything that opposes you.

He invaded other countries,

killed people and took away
their homes violating the right
to property just so he could
expand his empire. Alexander
eventually overworked his
army so much from their years
of campaigning that they
actually revolted against him
and forced him to turn back.

Compared to Macbeth
For brave
Macbeth-well he
deserves that name

Both Alexander and
Macbeth were
highly respected
warriors.
