Students actively participate in many intercollegiate
competition conducted in and outside the University and
have won several prizes. The University level Hockey
tournment for the year 2008-2009 will be organized by
Manipal Institute of Management.
Kurukshetra '08
Kurukshetra, a Management Fest, was organized by the
students, where management students of many
prestigious business schools from south zone
participated. The Fest provided opportunities to students
to battle for their grit and develop the skill of devising
strategies and diplomacies. The students of MIM
organized this event.
Working for a social cause

Students of our institute have participated in Shramadan, a
Clean and Green Project, near Prasanna Ganapathi
temple, Manipal and also organized Blood Donation camp.
In addition, our students have initiated charitable causes
like weekly visits to orphanages and conducting
development programs.

National Symposium 2008 on “The Challenging Role of
Human Resource in Retail Management” was held by the
Human Resource Club COHREA of Manipal Institute of
Management. The event was inaugrated by Mr. Nishith
Mohanty, Senior Vice President, HR, Manipal Group. Chief
Guest for the event was Brig. [Dr] S S Pabla, Pro Vice
Chancellor, MU, Manipal.
“FLAME” AD-JUST 2008; Marketing Workshop was

organized by the students of Marketing specialization. The
keynote speaker was Reshma Mathias, Media Planner,
Maxus Media.

Academic Activities
• Guest Lecture on “Personality Development” was held
for the students. Key speaker: Mr. N.N. Das B.Tech, IIT,
Kanpur.
• Workshop on “India as an emerging knowledge

economy towards 21st Century - Challenges for
Managers” was arranged for the students. The key
speaker was Prof. Nanda Gopal, Dean, SMU,
Directorate of Distance Education, Manipal.
• Special Lecture on 'Industry Expectation from

Management students' was held for the students by
Mr. Harinder S. Sikka, Director, Corporate Affairs,
Nicholas Piramal India Limited, New Delhi.
• Workshop on “Personality Development” was

conducted for the 2nd year MBA students. Key speakers
for the workshop were Mr. Nishith Mohanty and Mr.
Ganesh selveraj.
• STUP on marketing was organised on three Sundays on

January 20th, 27th and Feb 3rd 2008. The aim of the
programme was to enable the entrepreneurs
understand how Internet can be effectively used to
market their products and services.
International Conference on "Outsourcing/Offshoring:

Trends and Managerial Issues" was organized jointly by
Manipal Institute of Management, Manipal University,
Manipal and College of Business Administration,
Northeastern University, Boston, USA. Chief Guest for the
event was Dr. S.R. Rao, Advisor International Collaboration
and Infrastructure, Dept. of Biotechnology, New Delhi.
Prof. Michael Maggard College of Business Administration
Northeastern University, Boston, delivered the valedictory
address.
An International conference on “Harnessing the Entrepreneurial Potential of

Women for Economic Growth” will be held during January 22-24th, 2009 to
discuss and deliberate on the various issues related to women
entrepreneurship development. The conference is organized by Manipal
Forthcoming Event Institute of Management jointly with Asian Centre for Entrepreneurial
Initiatives (ASCENT) as Knowledge partner.
