Activity: Protect the President
Source: (Ministry to Youth, "Youth Group Game: Protect the President")
Equipment Needed: One-two balls
Activity Description: This activity is best played with a large group; the purpose of this activity
is to Protect the President.
1. Have all participants stand in a huge circle with two standing in the middle
2. The two people in the middle have roles: the president and the bodyguard
3. The president must never move and needs to stay in the center of the circle, while the
bodyguard has to protect the president at all costs
4. The role of the participants standing in the circle around the president is to throw the ball
at the president
5. If the bodyguard fails to protect the president, the bodyguard becomes the new president
and the person who hit the president becomes the new bodyguard.
6. Can play with one or two balls
7. Have fun!
Leadership Considerations:
1. When working with participants with Obesity, this activity is an ideal one to begin with.
They are able to exercise in a fun way for them that is also not to severe. Although if it
does get too much for some participants, you can adapt it to instead of having two balls
playing with one ball, or reducing the size of the circle.
2. For those individuals with Dyspraxia this activity can help with controlling their balance
and movement. The participant who has the role of the president must stand still and for
the lengthy time period they are doing this it can help improve this. When blocking the
ball or throwing it toward the middle it is also a good way to help with these participants.
