During my teaching practice, I applied and observed many activities. The activities are crucial
in our life, especially in education.
The activities have many benefits in teaching. Firstly, it helps students to understand the lesson
quickly. It develops their skills and their knowledge. Secondly, it builds students selfconfidence and develops their understanding through work in groups. Thirdly, it establishes
the relationships between students and teacher.
Through my teaching practice, I noticed that my MST used different activities and she did not
repeated it more than two times. I think the activities that she used and applied were so
creative and wonderful. For example, she applied houses and keys activity that is include
houses contains subtraction question, the keys include the answers. I really love this activity
also; the students were motivated when they played this activity. Therefore, I decided to apply
it in one of my lesson that is add and subtract mentally. I applied but in different way, the
difference was I gave each group three houses and three keys but she gave each group one
house and put the keys on her desk. She asked students to solve the subtraction question first
then search for the key that include their answer. There were many other activities such as
drawing a mental map in science; the students were very excited to draw a mental map.
Moreover, she used some app to help them understand the lesson more.
During my teaching practice, I also applied many different activates such as, UNO activity
which is contains UNO cards and symbols of comparing numbers >, =, <. I asked student to
create two numbers with three-digit and but the symbol between the figures. Moreover,
snowman activity that consist of cork, parts of snowman include addition question. The
students should answer the addition question first then they must stick the parts of snowman
on the cork to create snowman. The students must attach the house with suitable key. In
addition, I used puzzle activity, which include picture of cartoon, numbers and sentence I love
math. The students must order the numbers from least to greatest and solve the puzzle.
Furthermore, I applied ice cream activity that is contain cone and scoops include numbers. I
asked students to order the numbers from greatest to least.
I believed that varying the activities is the best way to attract students attention and it let them
focus in the lesson. Furthermore, it helps them to understand the lesson clearly. I advise all
teachers to use different types of activity instead of lecturing.
