Part 1: Research Paper


You will be writing a research paper on one of the ancient civilizations we have studied in class. Research one of the
following civilizations below:
EGYPT

INDIA

ROME

MAYA

GREECE

CHINA

AFRICA

Research the following areas for the civilization you chose. These will be your subheadings for your research paper
and project:

Geography (map, landforms, significance of)


Government (structure, evolution (changes), etc.)
Society (family life, work, daily life, etc.)
Religion (beliefs, significance of each (what did it mean), influence, etc.)
Technology (math, science, inventions, discoveries, etc.)
Arts (visual and performing arts)
Important People (leaders, artists, scientists, etc.)
Legacy (contributions to the modern world/what influence do the ancient culture have on life today)

Your research paper must:

Be typed (double spaced, 1 inch margins, 12 point font, Eurostile)


Have a subtitle for each area of research
Have a works cited page with at least 3 resources
Have a title page that includes the title, your name, subject, teacher, and date (Sample on Website)

Part 2: Project
You will present your research in a formal presentation using one of the following options:
PowerPoint Presentation

20 30 slides that include all areas of research


Bullet points
Images for each slide (photos, pictures, maps, graphs, etc.)

Model

Create a model of one significant aspect of your civilization. This may include artwork, architecture, landforms,
physical maps of cities, etc.

Time Capsule

Imagine that someone from your civilization left a time capsule that you discovered. Create a time capsule that
includes at least 7-12 artifacts that represent the persons place in society, occupation, culture, and other
aspects of the civilization.
