OVERALL COMMENTS AND REFLECTIONS:

I observed Ms. Hooper. She is 8th grade Science Teacher. The class that I sat in was comprised
of students in grade levels 13-14. There were approximately 24 students in the class. She
started the class with warm up. Student knew what to do. When they entered classroom took
their notebook and started work on warm up. Her teaching style was progressive. Mostly, Ms.
Hooper used lecture method to teach vocabularies. She also used discussion technique. She
used video which is integration technology in classroom. She was using peer editing and
involving students in evaluation. The teacher spoke quietly in class, loud enough to be heard,
but never over the top of people. When others were talking, she looked at them and waited for
100% compliance. She was a laid back manager, but she expected respect from the students
and held them accountable for their actions. She had few rules but gave students clear
feedback when something inappropriate occurred.
Overall, the class was good. Teacher used different instructional strategies to engage student.
Students motivation was ok. , most of them were willing to do work. Couple students wanted to
sleep instead of do work. Interaction between teacher and students was mediocre. 50 % of
students was participating the class discussion. She was patient, fun, and ready to engage
students from wherever they were. She was an effective manager and students seemed to
respect her.
