It is a pleasure for me to write a letter of recommendation for Taylor Mantz. As a Clinical Supervisor at the University of Minnesota, I have had the opportunity to observe Ms. Mantz weekly during the full school year, 2015-2016. Ms. Mantz is currently in the Teacher Education Redesign Initiative(TERI) at the University of Minnesota. This program places Teacher Candidates directly in schools for a full year experience during their fifth year of teacher education. She is currently a First Grade Teacher Candidate at Lincoln Elementary in the White Bear Lake School District. She has done an outstanding job working with a dynamic First Grade teacher in a co-teaching model and collaborative team in her school. Right from the start it was evident that Ms. Mantz is unique in her preparation to be a teacher. Her previous degree in Child Psychology gives her perspective to individual student needs. She also has a natural approach to group dynamics and is able to perceive the needs of a classroom as well. She is naturally gifted to lead children to achieve their goals. She works very hard to organize her lesson plans thoroughly so she is able to adjust them according to the needs of her students. She is very versed in a Balanced Literacy approach and uses the Daily 5 format in her classroom. Her lesson designs are complete from target objective to closure. Truly, students are motivated to learn in her classroom. Taylor is a true member of her First Grade level team. Her grade level team plans lessons and units together each week. Taylor was a key part of these planning meetings. She has gained experience teaching interventions in reading and math within multiple classroom student configurations. Her team relies on her to co-teach differentiated groups. They have complete confidence in her abilities to teach the standards necessary for her students. She attends all grade level meetings and has worked closely with her Cooperating Teacher. In conclusion, I would highly recommend Taylor Mantz for any position for which she may apply. You will find that Taylor will enhance your building with her teamwork capabilities and her students will excel in her classroom.
