This article is written by a former police chief of Savannah, Georgia, who has a Ph.D. in social
science. He claims that these issues with police are not epidemics but rather problems. He says that police
are just trying to do their best and do what they feel is right for the community and cities that they live in.
From what it looks like this former police chief is saying that police officers arent going out of their way
to commit these crimes.

Shortly after being taken by police into custody. Freddie Gray was killed. The investigation may bring up
a point that there may have been homicidal misconduct. These incidents have been becoming more and
more serious it seems every year. In this article it is on the side of the victim.

A man was left dead after a fatal police shooting in January at a La Quinta Inn in Arizona.
Reports said that the man was pointing a sniper rifle out of a fifth-floor window. The suspect Daniel
Shaver was a good citizen with no prior criminal record. He was confronted by police, unarmed, he was
told to get on the ground and crawl toward them. As he was crawling he went to pull up his pants, the
officer thought he was reaching for a weapon and he instantly fired 5 shots killing Shaver. It turned out
his rifle was just a BB gun he was using for a business trip where he went to Walmart to shoot pigeons.

This article talked about the recent shooting of a 17 year-old boy by the name of Abdi Mohamed. He was
shot by an officer of the Salt Lake City Police Department. Witnesses said that Mohamed and 45-year-old
man were in an argument and were getting ready to fight with a broom. When officers arrived they told
the two to drop what they were holding and Abdi didnt and officers shot him in the torso, killing him.
The position that the writer is in, is defending the victim of this issue. He tries to explain that this may
have shown excessive force by the officers.

This webpage is written by the U.S. Department of Justice, which explains how and or when
force should be used by police officers. It defends police saying that when dealing with a dangerousor
unpredictablesituation, police officers usually have very little time to assess it and determine the proper
response. This may go to show that police officers first resort is excessive force.

In New York a man by the name of Mauricio Jaquez was shot and killed in the Bronx by an
officer by the name of William Flores. Police were called to the house by Jaquez wife and they saw he
was having a break down officers tried calming the man. Jaquez pulled out a knife and tried to pursue the
officers that way Flores then shot the man a few more times killing him. Flores charges were dropped.
This article is in the favor of the victims as well.

This article refers to the fact that when people hear about a cop shooting a person of color, its
instantly thought to be police brutality and racism. It then goes on to say that the government is trying to
find ways to work with the community and the police force to make everyone feel equal. This article is
supporting the police showing that police brutality is not based off of race.

A man by the name of Patrick Lee who was 21 years-old, was tased to death. The reason for this
was because the man seemed to be acting strangely. His family had tried sewing the local government
and taser international for wrongful death. This article is supporting the victim of the death.
