EDUG520CLASSROOMMANAGEMENTPLAN

Statement of Purpose
My classroom will be a place of love and respect, where all students are
welcome to make and fix honest mistakes. Students must try their hardest
and give their best. All who enter my classroom will be expected to be better
helpers than those who help them, better listeners than those who listen to
them, better encouragers than those who encourage them, and better leaders
than those who lead them.

Rules
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Respect others, respect yourself, and respect the classroom

Raise your hand to communicate during class time.
Communicate clearly.
Try, make mistakes, learn, take risks, try again, learn again, never quit.
Enjoy and have fun!

Procedures
Entering the classroom:
Have parent signed agenda open to show teacher before entering
Walk into class showing teacher your parent signed agenda
Walk to your desk and remove supplies from your backpack that you will
need for the day.
Students will follow the Submitting Homework procedures
Once homework is out on the desk, student may begin their daily
classroom jobs. (Feed class pet and log feeding, water plants, monitor
backpack rack, check team supplies, update calendar, update whiteboard
agenda, turn on class dojo and request teacher login if not already set)
Once job is complete, silent read an independent book of your choice.

Late Arrival:
Students must arrive on time to all times.
Late arrival, without parent/teacher note, will result in loss of half of
class dojo points for that day. (To be early is to be on-time, to be
on-time is to be late, and to be late is be down half of your dojo points.)
Plea to keep Dojo points
If a student is late and does not have a note they may plead their
case during break-time for why they were late in front of the

entire class. Since they were late and not present during class
while everyone else was present, they may make a public
statement during break-time for why they were late and why
they should be allowed to keep their dojo points. The class will
then make a vote as to whether the plea is a good reason for
being late and acceptable for keeping dojo points.
Submitting Homework:
Have homework out for your team captain immediately upon removing
supplies from your backpack.
Team captain checks and collects homework.
When teacher calls Captain's report. Team captains will come upto to
the teacher with the homework assignments from their team and will
tell the teacher who brought their homework for the day and who is
absent in their group. (If the captain is absent the group will choose one
person to give the team report to the teacher)
Students who have their homework complete and turned in will
immediately gain 5 points on class dojo. Team captains will put points in
for their team immediately after reporting team status to the teacher.

Restroom
Restroom needs must be handled during break-time, lunchtime, and
recess.
Students are allowed 1 classroom emergency use of the restroom, but it
will cost them 10 class dojo points.
Any student who does not have enough dojo points and chooses to go to
the restroom during class time, must forfeit their recess in return for
restroom class-time restroom privilege.

Subject Transition
Teacher says, lets move to _____ (Subject category). Students will
return all previous subject materials to correct storage location.
If the storage location is away from the desk, student will first put
supplies away at their current location.
Student will wait to be called for putting supplies away at a remote
location.
Once supplies have been returned, then new supplies for next subject
may be taken out and opened to the appropriate assignment listed on

Throughout the day, students will be earning points or tokens for positive
behavior. Tokens will be used in place of the points during classroom
instruction. The students will then exchange the tokens for points during their
break or transition time. The points may be exchanged at the end of the week
for prizes or privileges. Students will be able to earn tokens and points for
classroom participation, positive behavior towards a peer, teacher choosing
additional rewards, team exemplary modeling of classroom expectations, or all
class superb effort.

On occasion the teacher may choose to award the students with an item from
any of the 3 categories for ongoing exemplary behavior. For example, if the
entire class is performing SUPERB EFFORT consistently for 4 days in a row,
the teacher may award the entire group a pizza party or lunch in the class
with a movie.

Dojo Points
Tokens will be used to keep track of dojo points during classroom
participation.

Each color token will represent a dojo point option.

Blue answering questions 2 points
Red caught caring 3 points
White teacher's choice 5 points
Green team point 5 points for each person on the team.
SUPERB EFFORT - No token - 10 immediate points for all
students (Entire class is on task and completing assignments)
During subject transitions or breaks, the team captain may turn in the
team's tokens for the dojo points. Points will be given to the student
who earned the token.
At the end of the week, the team with the most points will be able to
choose a classroom privilege for the week (activity (Wear a hat in class,
prize from teacher's bin, privilege chair, no homework pass, change
name for a day, eat lunch with the teacher)

behavior) (3 Black tokens)

Severe Disruption/
Danger to others

Sent to Principals Office

I will use the negative behavior consequences to ensure that my expectations

are clear. With consistency students will know and be able to perform my
expectation without confusion. The initial consequence for breaking the
classroom rules is the verbal warning. After the verbal warning the
consequences will consistently become more intense. If the behavior is
dangerous or threatening to anyone in the classroom the result will be
immediate referral to the principals office. Examples of threatening behavior
would be: intensional pushing, kicking, hitting, or use of object to cause harm.
