To Whom It May Concern:

It is an honor to be asked to write a letter of recommendation for Kelsie McCready. I first

came to know Ms.

McCready this past school year when she participated in a co-teaching model for student teaching that afforded
her the opportunity to collaborate and co-plan with a peer. Currently I am an instructional coach developing the
Professional Learning Community model at her previous school sight. Ms. McCready is at the forefront of
candidates applying for elementary teaching positions due to her vast experiences in a collaborative student

teaching model and PLC training. These combined experiences have laid the foundation
effective work within her erade level and school teams.

for her future

My current role has given me the opportunity to observe Ms. McCready with her peers, students and

master

teacher. Weekly she created and implemented student centered lessons that would enhance discourse and group

collaboration through differentiated instruction. Ms. McCready consistently used her knowledge of Cognitively
Guided Instruction (CGI) within her math lessons. CGI is a researched based instructional philosophy that
develops students' mathematical thinking through the design of math problems that address conceptual
development leading to procedural fluency. When Ms. McCready was building her math unit on the geometry
standards for ltt grade, it was apparent that student generated thinking and understanding would be the map to
guide her path. Making student thinking visible was apparent in her lessons through the use of charting and
sharing student thinking.

Ms. McCready is a reflective leamer who consistently considers her practice and teacher moves. She actively
seeks to improve teaching practices that will impact both her teacher effectiveness and student learning. Her
classroom instruction is data driven as she notices, interprets and then responds to student needs, both
academically and socially. At the start of her student teaching observation cycle the first grade team needed a
teacher to immediately differentiate phonics instruction. Ms. McCready accepted the challenge and moved right
into the position with confidence.

I positively

recommend Ms. McCready for an elementary teaching position. She represents the quality and
dedication that we seek in the school setting. She is knowledgeable, reflective, responsible, and most of all
devoted to the teaching profession and the impact it has on the future. I can be reached at the information given
below in the chance that you need further clarification or documentation.
Sincerely,
