Re: Miss Tiffany Lum

To Whom It May Concern:
I have had the honor of knowing Tiffany Lum since she was an active five year old.
I met her in a kindergarten classroom full of youngsters still trying to master sitting
still, listening and following directions.
Tiffany is now is in her last year at
Buckingham Charter Magnet High School. She is now a compassionate, studious,
and hard-working young woman. I have happily known her through all of her
school years as a family friend, and for 12 years as her 4-H Project and Club
Leader.
Tiffany has been a part of Suisun Valley 4-H since 1st grade, she is a 12 year
member with 100% attendance, and is currently serving on our Senior Leader
team. She and two other experienced seniors are responsible for our clubs
educational project, leading our 77 club youth in an educational, and fun activity
at club meetings. Last month she led the club in an educational piece on how to
start a conversation with someone you would like to get to know better. She has
earned the 4-H Platinum Star the highest star ranking in 4-H. She has served as
our club Vice President, tracking all of our clubs community service, and science,
engineering and technology efforts. She was also responsible for bringing in
educational guest speakers throughout the year. Tiffany has served in three
additional officer roles; as our club secretary, keeping all the attendance, minutes
and communications in good order, one year as the club historian, and one year as
refreshments officer. She has always been been willing to help in club leadership
and runs her jobs smoothly and effectively.
Suisun Valley 4-H is a large club where Tiffany sought out many opportunities to
develop project skills including multiple years in leadership, woodworking,
filmmaking, record keeping, sewing, community service, horsemanship,
leatherworking, photography, baking, and arts & crafts. As her woodworking and
leadership leader, I have seen her set goals, obtain resources, assess her progress,
shift gears and accomplish her goals. She has given 33 4-H presentations that were
fully memorized, many at judged events, others were given to develop proficiency
by presenting to different audiences. She has served as a junior and teen leader
for five projects over an equal number of years, helping her fellow club members
learn and master valuable life skills through 4-Hs hands-on approach. She has an
impressive 4-H record on many levels and she has earned it.
4-H is the symbol of head, heart, health and hands. Tiffany really embodies all of
these cornerstones. She is a five year leadership project member with a positive
attitude, creative mind, and good follow through. She values the opportunity to
lead as much as she values the opportunity to give others the chance to lead, and
to encourage and support them. She has been California State 4-H Thrive
Leadership certified for three years, a rigorous state leadership program. She
seeks out new leadership skills each year, and has thoughtfully recorded them all
in her 4-H record book. She has earned gold seals every year for her record-

keeping and many Solano County 4-H special awards for specific project work. She
is also community-oriented, with years of outreach in her community through 4-H
and her school. She has put in over 100 hours in her community through 4-H
alone, and always with a willing and compassionate heart.

Every year our club visits the Yountville Veterans Home on Valentines Day, she
thoughtfully prepares Valentines in advance and spends time visiting, and talking
with Veterans of all ages. National 4-H has launched a Healthy Living campaign
and Tiffanys athleticism in soccer makes her a good role model for a healthy life
style, and she has used the leadership skills she has developed in 4-H as the
captain of her soccer team, and the schools Commissioner Leadership program.
Her talents earned her a nomination for Girls State as well, a real honor.
Tiffany is devoted to her family, friends and her future. She is creative, diligent,
smart, and gets involved! One thing stands out to me above all these wonderful
qualities, and that is her moral fibre. She is willing to stand for what she knows to
be good character traits, and to help others do the same. Tiffany is a well-rounded
young woman that will continue to be successful in her college life. She will
become involved there and contribute to the college community in the same way
she has all through 4-H.
