explains other similar disorders like Dysthymic Disorder which may be less intense as
depression disorder but lasts for a significant amount of time. The book goes into strong detail
explaining that it is tough to seek help for mood disorders as many take it as embarrassing and
shameful but therapy is important for one suffering depression. Being a friend and talking to
someone even if it is to tell a concerned adult or being one someone can confide in can save
someone's life. I chose this book because it explains depression on the level of a teenager and
how to help teens suffering with depression and what causes it.
"Ways to minimize students' school anxiety." Parry Sound North Star (ON) 12 Nov. 2014: Points
of View Reference Center. Web. 18 Feb. 2016.
The article Ways to Minimize Students School Anxiety talks about the anxiety and
nervousness many students experience going into school. The article explains the different types
of anxiety a student can face and how they affect them. For example Separation Anxiety, when a
child or teen is frightened of leaving their parent and worry something will happen to their
parent. A very common type of anxiety in teens is Social Phobia where one is worried about
social situations, These students may be sensitive to criticism, demonstrate low self-esteem, be
easily embarrassed, shy and self-conscious. Anxiety disorders can be debilitating and may
require counselling and treatment. I chose this article because it explains in-depth how anxiety
affects students and the types of anxiety.
