1. For someone working in your field, what are some of the fantasies versus the realities of
the job?-Dogs will be healthy and tame, in reality many are sick or aggressive
2. What is your current education level? What continuing education and training are
required? High school, there are training programs setup for volunteers by LCAS
3. Please describe the typical day to day activities of someone working in your field?
Updating the walk board, walking dogs, feeding and cleaning, helping potential adopters
4. How secure are you in your current position? Very secure as a volunteer
5. What is a typical (average or lowest to highest) salary of someone working in your field?volunteer
6. What potential for growth is there in your field?-there are levels of canine companionship
at LCAS for volunteers, from level 1(walking dogs) to level 4(working with aggressive
dogs and medical things)
7. How long have you been working here?-3 years
8. Do you have any experience with training canines?-no
9. How do shelter dogs differ from other dogs?-Shelter dogs are much more appreciative of
love
10. Do you believe there are benefits to canine clicker training for shelter dogs?-No, I dont
think dogs are here long enough before adoption in order to be positively affected by
clicker training
