Class description
There are 27 students in this group 12 boys and 15 girls, all between 13 and 15 years old. They have
English classes /3 times a week/, for 40 minutes each time. Most of them have been studying English for
about 4-5 years. Its an early group and they usually come to class still sleepy, so an active warm up,
where they have to move, is always a good start.
Skills:
-Reading: Statements /skills: multiple choice, completing missing information in tables/
-Speaking: Sentence transformations
-Vocabulary: new words related to the reported speech such as a: inform, answer, report to,
reply, respond, suggest to, & persuade
-Grammar: review of the differences between direct & indirect
-Listening: identify key words, understand details /skills-listening for specific information/
Main aim(s)
This English Lesson Plan is for learners of English as a second of foreign language. The Lesson Plan
include a stepby-step guide through the lesson, as well as a discussion of the lessons theme and
handouts for class. Student Centered Learning, Task Based Learning approaches & Explanation and
Comparison Method
-at the end of this lesson learners will be able to learn the rules of changing direct speech to indirect
speech
-to develop speaking & writing skills
Subsidiary aim(s)
1. to introduce the topic through the students own speaking.
2. to discuss with the students about their Hobbies, Clothes & Accessories, using reported speech.
3. to use extra materials & handouts
Personal aims
1. Developing vocabulary through the lesson and tasks.
2. Explaining values and assessing the students by teaching the self awareness creative thinking.
3. Developing writing skills

In the last lessons, the students have the Reported Speech through reading, writing & speaking

Materials
Classroom equipments: LCD, board, chalk etc.
Copies for whole class lesson handouts, tense table list. Activity, worksheet, extra paper & pencil.
Anticipated problems
1. Students might have problems with tenses.
2. Some students may get stuck and may not be very creative
Possible solutions
1. To give them the tense table, which can use.
2. Teacher goes around asking questions that may spark an idea.

-to ask students to write their hobbies etc. on the board, and elicit the theme of todays lesson, and tell
them that before they learn more about reported speech, they will discuss their friends experiences &
opinions using reported speech.
-to discuss different peoples habits or hobbies.

-to start the class off, I will pick random students & to ask them what did they yesterday?, Did you
have a good time? If yes, Did you go anywhere? If no, Whats happened? Whats wrong?
-to introduce objective of the lesson & to give extra materials, which related to the topic
