Mother Teresa, An impact to this world
There are many words to describe a hero. Well a hero is someone who is straight forward,
brave and compassionate. Also she is very obedient yet challenging. There are not many people
out there today who are known to have such a beautiful trait. It really is amazing how just one
person can make a huge impact on the world. A strong and independent woman who goes by the
name of Mother Teresa was a catholic nun and missionary who devoted herself to caring for the
sick and poor.
Mother Teresa was born on August 26, 1910. She was baptized as Agnes Gonxha
Bojaxhiu. The life of Mother Teresa is characterized by how her actions are toward others. The
early life of Mother Teresa was very amusing because she had experienced so much throughout
her life. She was born in Skopje, Macedonia. As a girl Mother Teresa sang in the Sacred Heart
choir and was often asked to sing solos. She attended a convent-run primary school, then a staterun secondary school. At one point, when she had turned 18 Mother Teresa was sent to Calcutta
where she was directed to teach at Saint Marys High School for Girls, a school which was run
by the Loreto sisters dedicated to teaching girls from the citys poorest Bengali families. (Russel)
Mother Teresas parents, Nikola and Drana Bojaxhiu were of an Albanian descent. Her
father was an entrepreneur who worked as a construction contractor, trader of medicines and
other goods. After her fathers death, Mother Teresa became extraordinary connected with her

mother. Her mother was a compassionate woman who instilled in her daughter to make a deep
commitment toward charity. (Marypages.com)
Uniquely, her actual name was Agnes. Until later she changed it to Teresa. Mother Teresa
did not have a husband. Her lovely sister through Christ who went by the name of Aga Bojaxhiu
had said that Mother Teresa is married to Jesus himself because she was so devoted to him.
Gonxhas family was a faithful catholic family. They prayed every evening and attended church
almost about every day. It was her familys munificence that made a great impact on Teresas
life. By the age of 12, she persisted that he conscious was to aid the poor. (Marypages.com)
When Mother Teresa was 18, she decided to dedicate herself to Gods work. Mother
Teresa went by the name of Sister Teresa (Mother Teresa) when she first began working at St.
Marys High School in Calcutta, India. She had first gone to Patna for a few months to prepare
for her future work by taking a nursing course. Within a year, Mother Teresa had found more
help than she anticipated. Young women came to volunteer services which later became the
Missionaries of Charity. (Americancatholic.org)
At St. Marys High School where Mother Teresa was working helped her gain her second
inspiration to help others. Her first inspiration was her mother, who she worked with to help the
needy in her local community as a child. Mother Teresa knew her true calling from God was to
live among the poorest of the poor. She helped others by loving God above all things, putting
him first in her life, and doing his will no matter how painful or stressful it was. She also showed
compassion for those who were much less fortunate than she was. She gave them food, and
helped them survive or die in comfort. (Autobiography.com)

In1952, Mother Teresa had opened Pure Hearts in Kolkata India which was a home for
the dying. On the absolute first day she had picked a woman literally half-eaten by ants and rats
carried her home and cleansed her. Mother Teresa had done things to help out others. Therefore
she has impacted the world. What makes her so unique is that the task of helping the needy was
not easy. She herself was constantly hungry and in need of food. This outstanding woman had
once traveled through a war zone to save thirty-seven children from the front lines. What
possessed Mother Teresa to do such a deed? Well, she had come across a dying woman on the
street one day whom she had brought to the hospital. The hospital refused to cure the woman
because she was poor and was going to pass away anyway. That was when it all got to her.
Mother Teresas heart ached. Then and there is when she decided to make a change for those who
were left on the street to die alone and in pain. (Biographyonline.com)
This woman who goes by the name of Mother Teresa is well known for her good deeds.
She took the homeless people, fed them and washed them. She expected nothing in return.
Mother Teresa had her sisters through Christ to help to pick up the sick and dying from the
streets, and feeding them. They either saved their lives or let them die in comfort. A famous
quote said by Mother Teresa was if you cant feed a hundred people, then just feed one
(Mother Teresa) anyone in this cruel world can make an impact. She did all this work because
she wanted to follow the word of Christ. (Biographyonline.com)
After many years of worsen health in which she had suffered from heart, lung and kidney
problems, Mother Teresa died on September 5, 1997 at the age of eighty seven. Mother Teresa
had said a beautiful quote If there is any purpose in your life, it is to reach out to the poor. This
is exactly what she had done. Mother Teresa had died of a massive heart attack. She had been
fighting heart problems, pneumonia and other illnesses for the past several years. She had

suffered her first heart attack in September 1989, since then she was hospitalized many times
over the previous six years. She will forever be remembered for her loving acts. (Russel)
What makes Mother Teresa such an amazing woman was how while she had been
recovering from her first heart attack in 1989, doctors had told her to give up her hectic schedule.
She never did. Mother Teresa delivered pure, selfless goodness to a world in which was often
cruel and harmful. She was the light of hope. She was also rewarded for her kindness. Who she
was rewarded by is labeled unknown. Mother Teresa was loyal to her people and to God himself.
She is remembered to this day because her kind acts will never be forgotten or left behind.
