The document discusses the feminist approach to gender representations in Indian society and literature. It notes that historically, Indian society has been patriarchal and women have typically been portrayed as subordinate to men and confined to domestic roles like homemaking. However, as feminist thought developed, representations of women in Indian writings began to change, with women gaining more importance and agency, including taking on lead roles and surpassing men socially, economically, and politically. The research work analyzes this shift from traditional to modern portrayals of gender through a feminist lens.
