"Digital Drama"
The latest data shows the majority of digital media consumption now takes place in mobile apps. Mobile digital media time in the US is now significantly higher at 51% compared to desktop (42%).
U.S. users are now spending the majority of their time consuming digital media within mobile applications, according to a new study released by comScore. That means mobile apps, including the number 1 most popular
app Facebook, eat up more of our time than desktop usage or mobile web surfing, accounting for 52% of the
time spent using digital media. Combined with mobile web, mobile usage as a whole accounts for 60% of time
spent, while desktop-based digital media consumption makes up the remaining 40%.
We desperately need the outdoors and time in the sun now more than ever! Cell phones and digital media is
taking more of our time, energy and attention.
This is one reason I love Oaklake Trails! I am thankful everyday for the opportunity to go outside in the nude,
feeling the warm sun on my entire body which is relaxing and definitely the best medicine for relieving the
"digital drama" blues.
Interesting internet facts:
Facebook, with over 500-million members, has added the ability for users to login and surf the site using a
more secure encrypted connection, known as HTTPS.
Facebook said in a blog post:
"Starting today we'll provide you with the ability to experience Facebook entirely over HTTPS. You should consider enabling this option if you frequently use Facebook from public Internet access points found at coffee
shops, airports, libraries or schools. In addition to the added encryption, Facebook said it will now also offer
"social authentication," a unique form of the traditional "captcha" coding, that will ask a user to identify Facebook friends from their photos.
Michael Looper, OLT
Starting in September and October, eastern/northeastern populations migrate from southern Canada and the United States to overwintering sites in
central Mexico where they arrive around November. They start the return
trip in March, arriving around July. No individual butterfly completes the
entire round trip; female monarchs lay eggs for the next generation during
the northward migration[2] and at least five generations are involved in the
annual cycle.

Thanks to research and enthusiasm of good friend and regular at OLT, Dick J,
we are encouraging residents to learn more about the monarch migration,
and enjoy the beauty of the monarch. We are planting (and protecting) the
milkweed plant on our property which the monarch uses to lay its eggs.
