    NonprofitdanceorganizationCityDanceisholdingitsannualDREAMscapeeventwith
    someofthedanceworldsbiggeststarsonSaturday,May7atUStreetsLincoln
    Theatre.ProceedsbenefitCityDancesflagshipDREAMinitiative,adancetrainingand
    mentorshipprogramdesignedtokeepstudentsinschool.

    Foundedin1996,CityDanceisrootedinthebeliefthatdancecantransformlivesand
    inspirechange,ExternalRelationsManagerMeganPiluksays.Tothatend,the
    organizationoffersprofessionaltrainingandgeneralclasses.DREAMistheprogram
    thattrulyspeakstotheorganizationsactivistethos.

    DREAMstartedasaprogramforthirdthroughfifthgradestudentsinpartnerDCpublic
    schools.Thelevelofinterestpromptedtheorganizationsexpansiontoincludesixth
    throughtwelfthgradeclasses,allprovidedfreeofcharge.CityDancecurrentlyworks
    withsixschoolsinDC,andprovidesclassestohundredsofstudentseachyear.Butits
    notjustdancetrainingthatDREAMisoffering.

    Weusedanceasapathwaytohelpstudentsgraduateandpursuetheirdreams,Piluk
    saysoftheoverarchinggoalbehindDREAM.

    Withmentorship,tutoringandothersupport,theprogramhasledtoamarkedincrease
    inschoolengagementanddedication,accordingtoPiluk.Afterbeinghonoredatlast
    yearsNationalArtsandHumanitiesYouthProgramAwards,DREAMwillexpandin
    2018toincludeadedicatedspaceintheUStreetcorridor:theDREAMCenterfor
    Dance.

    ThisyearsDREAMscapewillbringtogethersomeofthedanceworldsbesttalent,
    includingMatthewGolding,whoPilukdescribesastheBradPittofdance,withDCs
    ownRastaThomasdirecting.

    Ticketsforgeneraladmissionstartat$25,whileVIPpackagesstartat$250.Butifyou
    cantmakeitonthe7th,CityDanceistakingovertheLincolnTheatreonthe8thaswell
    forafreeperformancebythestarsoftheshowthemselves:thestudents.
