It is without reservation that I recommend Abraham Xiong to your scholarship program. I have had the
pleasure of teaching Mr. Xiong for the academic school year of 2014-2015 in Advanced Placement Environmental
Science. Throughout all the time that I have known Mr. Xiong, he has been committed to achieving his goals,
confident in his abilities, and a diplomat in the classroom.
Mr. Xiong is a self-advocate who goes above and beyond the rigors of the daily expectations in the
classroom. He is always looking to improve himself and does not hesitate to ask questions in his quest for
mastery. His answers to free response questions on the unit exams were very thought out and to a depth of
understanding that often surpassed his classmates. He was an active participant in class and greatly contributed to
discussions. As a global thinker, he presented dynamic perspectives to global problems discussed in class and has
a talent for leading his classmates in peaceful and productive group projects.
Mr. Xiong is confident and tackles many obstacles that life throws at him, balancing a challenging academic
schedule and an active involvement in the school and local community. Abraham is recognized for academic
strength by is membership in National Technical Honor Society and National English Honor Society. He also very
involved in the Junior Classical League. In addition, Abraham is passionate about improving the world around him,
starting at home in the local community. He dedicated countless hours of volunteer time through the church in
which he served as camp counselor, mentoring young children, and as a missionary to improve impoverished
communities in Georgia. His ability to balance a strong academic load and a rich, service-oriented outreach
demonstrates excellent time management, maturity beyond his peers, and a compassionate desire to make the
world a better place through medicine.
Abraham Xiong has left a lasting impression on me as a teacher. He will be a true asset to your school and
your scholarshop, combining a sincere motivation for knowledge and a unique, compassionate mindset to create a
better world. I highly recommend Abraham Xiong and appreciate your time.
