Gillaspys article contains relevant information regarding psychology with
animals, because he discusses the process by which marine animals choose to trust
humans. He goes in depth to discuss the psychology behind the bond of man, and animal.

He finds that the marine life shows a similar psychological connection to humans that
land animals show. Animals in general show a strong psychological connection to
humans that show similar traits. These humans are mostly friendly, and engage the animal
in a peaceful manner. Negative animals, usually had a strong past experience with
negative memories. Their memories usually lead them to a strong psychological
connection, both negative and positive, This article is relevant, because it helps enforce
the connection between psychology and animals.
Kasperbauer, T. "Animals As Disgust Elicitors." Biology & Philosophy 30.2 (2015): 167185. Academic Search Complete. Web. 16 Mar. 2016.
Kasperbauers article holds information concerning the friendly status between
animals and humans. It goes in depth to talk about how past psychological experiences
can influence the decision process of animals, and choosing who they trust. Animals with
a negative history with humans interact negatively due to a damaged psychosis,
compared to animals that had a good past with human interaction. Most animals that
lived a long life with negative human interaction, showed a particular disgust in human
interaction. They also did not want to attempt to make contact with humans. They
showed isolated and aggressive traits. Animals with a positive past with humans, were
more psychologically stable, and could interact positively with most humans, including
new ones. This article is relevant, because it shows the negative relationship between
psychology and animals.

In Klugers earlier article he talks about how apes are being taught to speak english, and
if it can be done. Apes are a close relative to chimpanzees, and humans. Both of those animals
have very close relationships to humans. The research to see if english could be taught to these
animals turned up good results with animals that showed a positive connection with humans,
compared to those who did not. The animals that did not enjoy to be around humans, prefered
solitude, and did not want to take part in the experiment. The xperiment itself proved good
results, showing the connection between animals and humans. The apes also had similar
incentives that a human would receive during an experiment. A human would most likely receive
food, or another commodity. The apes received the same thing.

Klugers article contains information concerning the psychology of animals, and how
animals in the future can be helped cure psychological illness. Many animals suffer from similar
human-like mental disorders, like PTSD, that prevent them from interacting with humans or
other animals. The article goes on to talk about how similar the animal and human minds are in
their processing centers. They may seem like two different areas, considering humans have the
ability to reason, and make educated responses based on a given situation, but animals have a
very similar process as well. Another similarity between a human, and animal mind is their
response to psychological interaction, and how it can either benefit or hurt them. This article is
relevant, because it shows how human-like mental disorders can also affect animals.

To The Special Issue." International Journal Of Comparative Psychology 27.1 (2014):
1-2. Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection. Web. 17 Mar. 2016
Millers article contains valid information regarding the comparative connection between
the psychology of animals and humans. He shows that while different in nature, the human mind
and the animal mind show a large comparison in their cognitive process. Both the minds react to
certain situations the same way. A human will react to a dangerous situation with what is called a
fight or flight mode. A large boost of adrenaline will shoot through the body, and either give a
human enough energy to run away, or fight. An animal has this exact same process. This article is
relevant, because it shows how similar human and animal minds are.

Bergens article shows another side to the psychological factors of an animals life. He
goes in detail to describe how animals can have a positive effect on a humans psychological
state. People that are depressed, or are experiencing difficulties in their lives usually tend to show
negative psychological connections more often than those that have an animal companion.
Animals can have strong mental bonds with human beings that benefit both of their
psychological states. It is a symbiotic relationship, in which both parties benefit. The animal
gains a home, a repaired psychi, and a powerful mental bond. The human gains a positive

relationship, and a better mental condition. The article is relevant, because it shows the positive
psychological relationship between animals and humans.
