Project Overview Table

Student: Maritza Quiones

Area of Concern

Needs Assessment

Although students in
Scroggins
Elementary have not
had a chronic record
of behavior incidents
resulting in
suspensions and
expulsions, the
school does not have
a consistent system
of discipline
management.
Teachers use
different methods of
rewarding and
punishing student
behavior, which
results in some
classes having a
positive environment
and others look more
like chaos.

As teacher specialist
and campus
behavior/discipline
coordinator, it is my
responsibility to
ensure that all
students are learning
in a safe
environment
conducive to
learning. However, I
see how the lack of
structure and of
enforcement of
consequences from
some teachers result
in misbehavior of
entire classes. Those
students
consequently do no
progress
academically and are
at risk of failing.

Evaluation

Reflection

Pre-Assessment
There is a discipline
committee that
never meets Some
teachers assign
detention and others
send students to the
office for behavior
that they should
manage in the
classroom. There is
no consistency
across grade levels
or even within grade
levels. Some
teachers use the
color system and
others have to
change their systems
constantly because
they are not
effective.

1. Creating a
positive learning
environment in
every classroom
of our school
takes effective
management
skills. It is very
frustrating how
some teachers,
do not use their
common sense to
ensure that all
children are
behaving
appropriately.
2. It is imperative
that teachers
buy-in into the
program and
commit to its
implementation if
we want to see a
change in our
