My Bondage and My Freedom

Prometheus Myth
Prometheus was a supposed titan of the ancient greek mythology,
unlike the rest of the titan family prometheus did not take part in the war
against Zeus. Therefor Prometheus was allowed to live and was given the
opportunity to make humans. and he gave them fire as well. Later when
Zeus was tricked by Prometheus he took away fire from man, but
prometheus light a torch and gave it back. Zeus was enraged and punished
prometheus. In the story my Bondage is my Freedom by Frederick Douglas,
Douglas steals food from his master but only because he is not provided
enough to survive so he has to take more. The short story told by Douglas
depicts the Prometheus myth in a few ways like how they both stole from
their masters, how they are not loyal to their masters, and neither like their
masters.
In the Prometheus myth, Prometheus steals fire back from Zeus to give
it to the humans because he like the humans more than the olympians
because they imprisoned the rest of Prometheus titan family. In the story told
by Douglas, he is forced to steal food from his master because they are no
provided enough food to begin with. In both stories prometheus and Douglas
take from the masters because they know thats whats right and how it
should be anyways.

Obviously in both the stories told neither prometheus nor Douglas like
their masters, Zeus imprisoned basically all of Prometheus family for eternity
and Douglas master enslaved his family and was not providing them with
enough food to survive and because of this both prometheus and Douglas
were forced to do thing that they may not necessarily be prude of but it had
to be done because it was whats the right thing to do.
Douglas is forced not to be loyal to his master because he cannot help
it, for one he is hungry and needs to be able to eat and also help his family
survive, but also because his master kind of had it coming for what he did by
enslaving all of these people and not treating them right. And Prometheus
was not loyal to his master Zeus either, everything probably would have
worked out but because prometheus was still upset about what Zeus had
done to the rest of his titan family prometheus had to trick Zeus with the
sacrifice therefor prometheus had to go behind Zeus back and trick him so
he could give fire back the the humans.
Both these stories tell a tale of dishonesty, but doing it because it was
what needed to be done, for Douglas he had to steal food from the master
because his life and the lives of his family depended on it to survive, and
prometheus in order to avenge his family he had to trick Zeus and disobey
him by giving fire back to the humans after Zeus told him not to.
