Many studies have shown that few events

in life have a lasting impact on subjective
well-being because of peoples tendency to
adapt quickly pg.324

I think theres some truth behind this

statement but I cant completely agree. I think
depending on the circumstance of the
situation depends how it affects a person.

those events that do have a lasting

impact tend to be negative. Pg.324

I completely agree, as sad as it is, people

tend to remember negative events more then
positive ones.

shifting focus from the impact of major

I agree with this statement because major

life changes on well-being to the impact of

seemingly minor repeated behaviors is
crucial for understanding how best to
improve well-being. Pg.325

events are important but minor events, added

all together, do have an affect as well.

well-being has been shown to affect the

behavior of individuals. Pg.325

I think this is true because I know depending

on how I am feeling depends on my mood
which changes my behavior.

People in positive moods have also been

shown to be more creative pg.325

I can see this as being true. I know when

good things are happening to me, I tend to be
more open minded about things.

positive relation between workers stable

happiness and their work performance.
Pg.325

Id believe it. Working in a place you dont like

or if your just unhappy in general, you arent
going to work very hard.

the term hedonic treadmill to describe

the now widely accepted notion that though
people continue to accrue experiences and
objects that make them happyor unhappy
their overall level of well-being tends to
remain fairly static. Pg.326

I dont agree with this because you have the

power to change yourself. If your unhappy
you have the power to do something about it.

When people experience a positive event,

two effects take place: in the short run, wellbeing increases; in the long run, however,
people habituations to their new
circumstances, which diminishes the
positive effect of that event. Pg.326

I somewhat agree with this concept. I think in

the beginning your happiness and well-being
increase but after a while those feelings go
away because you get use to them.

there seems to be little people can do to

increase their well-being. Pg.327

I dont think this is true. I think you have the

power to change whatever you want about
yourself.

that shifting from focus on the impact of

major life events to focus on minor life
events the kinds of small activities people
partake in every day offers insight into
how people might increase their well-being.
Pg.328

I somewhat agree focusing on small events

going good can help with negative events
happening later.
