September 2015- June 2016

Taught students of all abilities, including students with specific learning disabilities,
students with ADHD, as well as gifted and talented students. Collaborated with a co
teacher in order to plan and differentiate instruction and materials in order to
promote equity in the classroom.
Focused deeply on literacy, promoting students reading fluency and independent
writing skills through readers theater, Daily Five framework, and Reciprocal Teaching.
Took part in the math initiative team within the school, planning a school-wide math
mania hour, as well as gathering tools for teachers to have access to relevant math
resources such as a building-wide Google doc. with anchor activities as well as new
instructional math books for teachers.
Promoted Cognitively Guided Instruction as well as the implementation of Number
Talks
Taught science and engineering using inquiry-based pedagogy. Grouped students to
work in cooperative learning groups to foster collaboration skills during content
instruction. Used FOSS curriculum to teach subjects such as electricity, magnetism,
designing a water filter, and designing an alarm system circuit.

Worked with students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds in a summer
program to plan activities, help with childcare, and assist in summer learning.

Elementary School, and Evergreen Park World Cultures Community School.
Gained experience in three very diverse schools, working with a variety of students
and teachers to increase my concept of differing schools contexts.
Assisted and observed in a third grade general education classroom, leading literacy
lessons, answering student questions, and helping with classroom needs.
Participated in a semester-long special education practicum, working with students
with Autism Spectrum Disorder, ages 5-8. Assisted in student motivation and
behavior management in both a general education classroom setting as well as in the
special education resource room.
Focused on literacy for a semester, working with two individual students; one third
grader and a kindergartner. Used research-based assessments and activities in order
to increase students literacy skills and proficiency levels. Monitored student
progress, culminating in a functional behavior assessment.

Cared for a young girl from the time she was 11-13 as her summer nanny. Provided
meal preparation, drove her to events, supervised swimming and pool activities.

Organized and directed over 100 volunteers, providing instructions, guidance, as well
as keeping track of jobs to ensure that everything was run smoothly and jobs got
