Chapter 14
Setting- Mr. Brownlows house
Characters- Oliver Twist, Mr. Brownlow, Mrs. Bedwin, Mr. Grimwig
Main Events- Oliver recovers, Oliver finds the painting is gone, Oliver begs Mr.
Brownlow to let him stay, Mr. Grimwig arrives, and Mr. Brownlow gives him
the money to get him a book.
Social Issues- Rich vs. poor (Oliver and Mr. Grimwig)

Chapter 15
Setting- In the obscure part of a low public-house in the filthiest part of Little Saffron Hill.A.K.A., Sikes House, A bystreet in Clerkenwell
Characters- Oliver Twist, Mr. William/Bill Sikes, Mr. William/Bill Sikes Dog Bulls-eye, the Jew/Fagin, Barney, (Miss)
Nancy
Main Events- Sikes gets in a fight with Bulls-eye and Fagin interrupts, Sikes and Fagin have a conversation and Fagin
gives Sikes a package, The two of them send Nancy of to play the part of Olivers sister, Nancy, Bulls-eye, and Sikes
(Who is pretending to be Olivers father) make a scene on the street and beat Oliver to make him come back to them.
A fake family reunion.
Social Issues- Crime- Thievery; The thieves, Fake Identities/Identity Theft- Pretending to be someone else for devious
reasons; Nancy and Sikes, Abuse- Abuse of living things; Bulls-eye and Oliver

Chapter 17
Setting- Mrs. Manns Child Farm, Mr. Brownlows House
Characters- Mr. Bumble, Mrs. Mann, Dick, Mrs. Bedwin, Mr. Brownlow, Mr. Grimwig
Main Events- Mr. Bumble has a conversation with Mrs. Mann while delivering her pay, Mr. Bumble and Mrs. Mann talk
to a very ill Dick who requests a letter be sent to Oliver, Mr. Bumble goes to London where he sees in the paper Mr.
Brownlows advertisement asking for information on Oliver Twist for five guineas, Mr. Bumble tells Mr. Brownlow
what he knows/thinks of Oliver (Which we all know is not good things), Mr. Brownlow is crushed by this information
and Mrs. Bedwin denies it but Mr. Brownlow doesnt want to hear it so he requests to never hear Olivers name
uttered ever again.
Social Issues- Child Abuse- Mrs. Manns Child Farm; Dick, Corrupt Government- Mr. Bumble is too self-centered to
really do his job right so if someone says nice things about him they could probably get away with murder. Not how a
government should be run.

Chapter 18
Setting- Fagins House/ Thieves Quarters
Characters- Oliver Twist, The Artful Dodger; John Dawkins, Master Bates; Charley Bates, the Jew; (Mr.) Fagin, (Miss)
Betsy; Bet, (Mr.) Tom Chitling
Main Events- The Jew explains to Oliver the consequences (hanging) of disobeying the rules again, Oliver spends
many a day trapped inside Fagins House, While shining Dodgers shoes, Oliver, Dodger, and Bates talk about the life
of a prig and the consequences. Bates and Dodger also tell Oliver how great it is to be a prig and they give him tips on
how to do it., Fagin comes back in the middle of the boys conversation with Tom Chitling and Bet, Tom Chitling is
introduced to Oliver, Chitling, Bet, Fagin, and Oliver have a conversation which Bet later departs from (The topic being
the art or progress of the thieve prodigies), For some time Fagin tries to slowly poison Olivers soul with the art of his
trade to make him another young thief at his disposal.
Social Issues- Child Abuse- Forcing and confining Oliver to Fagins house, Crime- All of the thieves gathering together
and talking about there grand trade
